Kleidon welcomes design and public relations interns
Kleidon & Associates has hired two interns – Steve Govern and Thomas Marzella – to assist with design work, strategy and copywriting for on-going client projects.
Govern, a graphic design intern, will be applying his education to the design of corporate identities, websites, banners, invitations and various other projects. He is currently enrolled in The University of Akron-Myers School of Art program and is involved with design x nine, a selective senior design studio.
Marzella, a senior at Miami University, will be graduating this December with bachelor degrees in English literature and marketing. He is involved with Pi Sigma Epsilon Marketing Fraternity and Highwire Brand Studio, a branding practicum.

Kleidon teams with Cuyahoga Valley National Park for remarkable results
The Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s (CVNP) first annual Topography event was held Saturday, June 19 at the Virginia Kendall park and drew a surprising number of guests. Expecting to have about 350 attendees, the Topography event planners were pleased when almost 100 more people than anticipated reserved a spot.
Kleidon & Associates designed the save-the-date postcard, e-mail blast, invitation, program, ads and banners for Topography. One donation was made toward the event from an individual who could not attend but “simply liked the invitation.” All proceeds from the event support the CVNP’s Trails Forever Legacy Fund.

LeBron James receives important endorsement from Kleidon
Basketball phenom and two-time most valuable player of the NBA LeBron James has officially gotten the recommendation from Kleidon & Associates to remain with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The endorsement from Kleidon as the geographically closest marketing agency to James’ Akron residence will undoubtedly have a significant impact on his upcoming decision.
Several members of the Kleidon staff attended the rally at InfoCision Stadium on Saturday to help persuade James to stay an Ohioan. Public relations director Kurt Kleidon attended the event and said, “I can’t be certain, but I think LeBron mouthed, ‘Thank you, Kleidon,’ while addressing the fans.”
Kleidon’s recommendation comes only a few weeks after a wordless exchange at the gym between James and Tim Klinger, creative director at Kleidon. “I could tell that he wanted to ask about our decision,” said Klinger, “but it was too early to tip our hand. Yes, it was an awkward moment.”

Kleidon opens its doors to curious students and professionals
Kleidon and Associates hosted nearly 100 guests at our agency open house on November 6 — part of the second annual AAF Akron Agency Open House of advertising and marketing firms in West Akron. The Friday evening tour gave participants visits to five west-side agencies, and we were happy to be one of those. Over three hours, advertising and marketing professionals and students visited our offices, met our staff and viewed samples of our work. We saw old friends and made new ones. We also talked with students from the University of Akron, Kent State University and Cleveland State University about our variety of work for our wonderful clients.
Kleidon and Associates is a proud supporter of the American Advertising Federation, and our creative director, Tim Klinger, is president of the Akron chapter.

Kleidon receives four marketing awards
During the annual Addy Recognition Ceremony held Feb. 20, Kleidon & Associates, a family-owned business in Bath, was recognized by the Advertising Federation of Greater Akron for four projects completed in 2008. Two silver Addy awards were given to a poster and campaign promoting the Boy Scouts of America’s Learning for Life Conference Series, which focused on the theme of promoting positive classroom behavior. The creative work done for this project was donated by Kleidon & Associates.
A third silver Addy was awarded to a brochure for the Arts & Quilts of Amish Country. This brochure, done for the Holmes County Tourism Council, features information and images from the artists and art galleries of Ohio’s Amish Country.
